Life Is Iterative
What I watched: The Art of Life by Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo of SAND - Science & Nonduality (and their crew). Posted April 1, 2022.
I’m in Palm Springs, California, on vacation. So this post will be more brief than usual. But I think you’ll like the video to which I’m linking.
Sometimes I spin the wheel of digital fate and read, watch, or listen to something random online. This beautiful film was a random video presented to me a couple of days ago by the algorithmic gods (no, I don't believe in gods, but the word works here).
I couldn't stop watching it. Not sure why. I just sat and watched it for its entire 38 minutes. I feel changed. Maybe a little. Maybe a lot. But changed. This is filmmaking at its most simple, most basic, most pure. One man's story. A simple but incredibly deep and profound story. If you watch it, let me know what you think.
Perhaps it’s the palm trees here in Palm Springs that gave me an even closer affinity with the man in the video.
The slower pace of life. Living in the moment. Appreciating nature. Respecting science. Self-sufficiency. Spiritual practice. Approaching life from love. These are some of the things the man in the video embodies and it’s what I was thinking about today that I wanted to share with you.
This is something the man interviewed in the video said that stood out for me, that life is iterative. For those unfamiliar with the word…
Iterative - utilizing the repetition of a sequence of operations or procedures
(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
As someone who has historically clamored for achievement, success, goals, and other carrots I’ve dangled in front of myself, I appreciate the notion that life is about constant reinvention, constantly utilizing the information and scenario of the moment to propel us to the next thing without a clear path. This is how I try to live now. I wish I had come to this realization sooner in life.
"Evolution is a process of iteration. There's no plan. There's no master plan.
Have a beautiful day.
