What I wrote: Seeking Input for a Book on Accessible Activism by Me. Posted November 12, 2022.
This is a departure from my usual posts here. I’m linking to a post I made to my Patreon subscribers. Apologies in advance for the self-serving nature of this post.
Here’s what I wrote:
I recently posted on my social media platforms that I am writing a book about engaging in at-home activism. I was looking for a better title than the crappy draft title I had been using. I got a few great suggestions, but thus far my favorite came from my friend Laren Leland. She suggested:
Accessible Activism: Making a Difference From Your Comfort Zone
Much better than what I had considered, and that's my current working title.
Now, my request. If after reading this post you have any suggestions for content for the book, experience with your own forms of at-home accessible activism, or any information that might be useful, please send it my way. I hope to have the book finished within the next few months. There's lots of time to take in information and inspiration to improve its content.
As background, here is the draft text of the book's introduction which will give you an idea of what I'm writing.
If after reading the post you have any good feedback, information, experiences, or resources that might contribute to improving the book, I’d be grateful if you’d reply with a comment or message. Thus far I have set up my posts to only allow comments from my Substack subscribers, but for this one I’m leaving the comments open to everyone.
Thank you in advance for anything you might be able to contribute.

My way of doing accessible activism is to lead by example. I do certain things and others notice that my actions are possible. For example, I pick up trash in public ditches and others later follow my example and pick up some themselves. For example, I went back to school in my 50s and others come to believe they could do that too.
