Why I Write
What I read: Adam Grant’s tweet posted on December 26, 2021. By Adam Grant.
I have never written a post here about a tweet, but this one inspired me to tell you who are reading what I write here on Substack why I do it.
Grant’s suggestion that writing is not just a means of communication, but also a way of crystallizing ideas, aligns with how I see writing. Certainly it’s how I see my writing.
This is in large part why I write, because I often don't have a clue and writing forces me to learn new things and wrestle with ideas and opinions. Writing is my main learning and thinking mechanism and my readers are mostly coming along for that ride.
I discovered this tweet by Grant because of another longer tweet thread that I have to recommend you read because it’s so damn good. In this tweet thread Grant offers 21 things he rethought in 2021 and all 21 are standout gems of advice and insight.
Treat yourself and visit the thread and bask in the wisdom that is Grant’s sharp mind.
Grant is also the author of the excellent Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don't Know that I also recommend.
